Questions Of The Day

Serious ones...

Why does sexual abuse - even when it involves rape - seem to carry lesser penalties, prosecution? Is the crime easier on the child victim than on the adult one? Are there serious concerns about separating the child victim and the abuser? Should molesters be charged with rape?

Is this a case of family problems and the courts don't want to get that involved? Do Domestic Violence victims get the same justice as a stranger who has been beaten?

Is it because wives and children are still property?

Why are boys considered less of a man if they admit to being raped either as a child or an adult?

We have some bizarre loopholes when it comes to domestic crime and its treatment in our culture.

It's not right but it's better than it was. As long as we keep being outraged at the injustices and letting people know we're outraged then I think things can continue to improve.

I hope so, anyway.

I didn't know that penalties of domestic cases were less severe than that of abuse inflicted on strangers.

Maybe if more people were aware of that, things would change. Thanks for bringing it to light.
